Approval of 12 projects in Eknake

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 12 projects including land acquisition project for the construction of a refinery in Uttara. The total expenditure will be Tk.

The projects were approved at a meeting chaired by ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday.

After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan briefed journalists on the projects.

The Planning Minister said the government funding for these 12 (new and revised) projects will be Tk. 9,8 crore and Tk. 1 crore of project assistance.

The approved projects are the ‘Construction of Cargo Vehicle Terminal at Benapole Land Port’ of the Ministry of Shipping, five projects of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridge respectively ‘Alikadam-Jalanipara-Kurukapata-Pomauhuri road (7th and Sawkas). Establish a parking facility for cargo drivers along the highway Principal, ‘Construction of Mirsarai Economic Zone Connection Road (2nd revised) from Baratakia (Abutorab)’ project, and development of four lanes of Khulna-Chuknagar-Satkhira highway in Khulna (1.5km).

The Ministry’s two projects are ‘Land Acquisition for construction of sewerage area in Uttara area’ respectively, and ‘Road widening from ECB intersection to Mirpur Comprehensive Livestock Development ‘Project, Ministry of Agriculture’ Pond Reorganization and Land Rehabilitation for the Improvement of Socio-economic and Livelihoods of Backward Minor Groups Living in the Plains of the Project, Fisheries and Livestock.

The use of micro-irrigation through the development of water ‘Colonel Md. Of the Ministry of Project, Health and Family Welfare’ Establishment of Lake Medical College and a 7-bed hospital, Manikganj (8th revised) ‘Project, Ministry of Textiles and Jute’ Begum Amina Mansur Textile Engineering Institute, Kazipur, Sirajganj (8th revised) ‘Project and Ministry of Agriculture’ Phase-2 (IFMC-2) ‘project.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, Road Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader, Agriculture Minister Md. Abdur Razzak, Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. Tajul Islam; Education Minister Dipu Moni; Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmood Humayun; Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek; Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi; Minister of Housing and Public Works Sh. M. Rezaul Karim; Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change. Shahabuddin and Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury were present.
